The German Surrender Document: An End to Conflict

The gold frame you see holds a copy of the German surrender document that marked the end of the war in Germany. Despite its historical significance, this document is remarkably brief. Notably, it does not bear the signature of General Eisenhower due to his animosity towards the Germans. Instead, it was signed by Alfred Jodl, the Chief of Staff of the German army, and General Eisenhower's aide, Walter Bedell Smith. A Russian general and a French observer also added their signatures, solidifying the end of this devastating conflict.
