In Chess Park, in the shadow of the old courthouse, a convicted killer and his lawyer replay their final match. Charlie Brown Perelli was tried, sentenced, and executed here in 1927. His attorney, Rose Falls Bres, fought for him until the bitter end. His was the last public hanging in Florida history.
